I just watched the 2010 movie adaptation of the New York Times bestseller Eat, Pray, Love, starring Julia Roberts as author Elizabeth Gilbert. Although some may not share my sentiments, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Of course critics will say that the movie didn’t do justice to the book, but then again, very few movies ever offer the detailed character and plot development that well written books do. With that being said, I think that I will read the book while on my Journey through Central America.

I don’t want to ruin any surprises for you if you haven’t seen the movie, but in the closing minutes of the movie Elizabeth has a monologue which I find very inspiring. Being a self-proclaimed “Quote Junkie”, I feel it my obligation to dispense this one to the anyone following this blog.

“I’ve come to believe that there exists in the universe something I call ‘The Physics of The Quest’ – a force of nature governed by laws as real as the laws of gravity or momentum. And the rule of Quest Physics maybe goes like this: If you are brave enough to leave behind everything familiar and comforting (which can be anything from your house to your bitter old resentments) and set out on a truth-seeking journey (either externally or internally), and if you are truly willing to regard everything that happens to you on that journey as a clue, and if you accept everyone you meet along the way as a teacher, and if you are prepared – most of all – to face (and forgive) some very difficult realities about yourself….then truth will not be withheld from you. Or so I’ve come to believe.”
